Nalanda Open University Admission 2023
Nalanda Open University has released the official notification for admission in Various courses for session 2023-21. The online admission for these courses will be done in Online Mode on the official website of NOU. The online application form for admission in NOU will be accepted from 6 August 2023 and will be filled till 30 September 2023.
NOU offers courses in higher learning through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode of education to the students of the State of Bihar in particular and the students of the country in general who did not opt for or have been denied admission in conventional institutions or who are unable to study in such institutions as day scholars, but are still desirous to upgrade their educational qualification. The courses offered by the University are innovative, job oriented and self-satisfying. It may be mentioned here that Nalanda Open University is the 4th oldest open University of the country. During its existence of last 31 years, it has contributed immensely in spreading higher education through the distance mode of learning.
The University is recognized by the Distance Education Bureau (DEB), University Grants Commission (UGC), and Ministry of H.R.D., Govt. of India, for imparting education through open and distance mode of learning (ODL)

Nalanda Opne University has started the admission process for Graduation and Post Graduation i. e UG (B.A,B.Sc and B.Com) PG (MA/MSc/MCom) Diploma and certificate courses for session 2023-21. The admission to these courses in NOU will be done in Online Mode on the official website of NOU. Candidates who have passed Inter and Graduation courses can apply for admission to these courses in NOU. The application form will be accepted in Online Mode from 6th August 2023. How to apply online for Admission in Nalanda Open University 2023?
- Online registration details are available onthe University website www.nalandaopenuniversity.com & www.nou.ac.in
- Candidates seeking online admission to various courses of Nalanda Open University are required to first register online.
- Kindly download the instructions for ready reference and follow the guidelines during online filling of the application form.
- On the landing Page (the webpage which opens after you click on the Admission link) please click on “New Admission” button.
- For New Applicant click on the blue button indicating “New Applicant? Create a New Account”.
- All information in the “New Candidate – Registration” IS COMPULSORY and will have to be filled up.
- Password of the candidate will have to be entered by the candidate as per the following rules
- Password should be minimum 6 character and maximum 13 characters i.e. it should be between 6 and 13 characters
- There should be at least one UPPER CASE
- There should be at least one LOWER CASE
- There should be at least one NUMBER
- There should be at least one SPECIAL CHARACTER (!;@;#;$:%)
- Example of Password – “Shukla@2023”
- After filling up the form and clicking on the “Register” button the candidate will receive an email and SMS with all the credentials for login
- User Name. – Which will be also the Application Number
- Password, and
- OTP
- The candidate will also be taken to OTP Page where the Candidate will have to enter the OTP.
- After entering OTP the candidate will be taken to the main Application Form.
- Please remember your APPLICATION NUMBER & PASSWORD. These will be required for login to the Application Portal. If you forget the same can be obtained from the email and SMS received by the candidate.
- All (*) marked field on the main application form are compulsory. The Compulsory Information will have to be filled before Final Submission.
- Candidate can save the form in draft mode and can login again for completing and submitting it.
- For submission of the form, filling up of Captcha is a must.
- Applicant shall choose the Course in which she/he wishes to apply based on the eligibility. The applicant is advised to check the eligibility of the Courses before making a choice.
- Candidate can take admission in only one course. There is no provision for applying in multiple courses.
- While filling up the form it is suggested to scan clearly the following documents as per the size given below
- Candidate’s Passport size photograph – Size Max. 50 Kb
- Candidate’s Signature (In English) – Size Max. 30 Kb
- Candidate’s Signature (In Hindi) – Size Max. 30 Kb
- Copy of Mark Sheets – Size Max 100 Kb
- In the mandatory upload section, the applicant has to upload clearscanned document of the following:
- Passport size photograph of the applicant.
- Scanned signature of theapplicant – English & Hindi
- Self-attested copy of qualifying examination Marks-sheet (Clearly scan your original Marksheet for uploading. Scan of xerox / photocopy of Marksheet will not be accepted).
- Please note that it is not compulsory to fill up the entire Application at one go, candidate can preserve already filled up information by saving the form in the draft mode and later on can complete and submit it.
- Application can be saved in the draft mode by clicking on “Save As Draft” button, doing so will allow the information already entered to be saved.
- Before submitting, candidate can preview the filled up application by Clicking on “Preview” button.
- User / Candidate can change or edit information in the Application as long as the Application is not submitted. Once the application is submitted candidate cannot change or edit or modify the information. For any correction in the application form the candidate will have to visit Nalanda Open University, Patna. Therefore candidates are advised to check the form carefully before final submission.
- After final submission of Application form the Candidate will be taken to Payment page. Candidates are required to pay the requisite fee online through this portal only. SBI Collect or Demand Draft will not be accepted in Online form submission.
- Only Paid Applications will be accepted for further processing.
- All payments will be online payment through Admission portal. Amount cannot be altered.
- Payment is not refundable.
- Candidates will be provisionally registered for admission, subject to the eligibility criteria and verification of passing certificate/mark sheet.
- University will inform you regarding study learning material & prospectus through sms or Email.
- Candidate shall take the print out of the admission form and keep it with them for future reference. Candidate may be required to come to Nalanda Open University headquarters, Patna for verification.
- The applicant will be solely responsible for providing information in the application form. In case of any discrepancy found during verification of the documents the application may be cancelled by the University any time.
