Notification for Admission in Mahatma Gandhi Central University Bihar 2020

Below is the official notification regarding admission in Mahatma Gandhi Central University Bihar (MGCUB) 2020 for session 2020-21.

Eligibility Criteria for Admission in Mahatma Gandhi Central University Bihar (MGCUB) 2020

1.  Eligibility criteria for admission to the M.Phil. Programme:

  • Candidates for admission to the Phil. Programme shall have a Master’s degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions.
  • A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC(non-creamy layer)/Differently- Abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time, or for those who had obtained their Master’s degree prior to 19thSeptember, 1991. The eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based only on the qualifying marks without including the grace mark

2.  Eligibility criteria for admission to Ph.D. programme:

  • Master’s degree holders satisfying the criteria stipulated in the clause 1
  • Candidates who have cleared the M.Phil. course work with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and successfully completed the M.Phil. Degree shall be eligible to proceed to do research work leading to the Ph. D. Degree in the same University in an integrated programme. A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC(non-creamy layer)/differently-abled and other categories of candidates, as per prevalent rules of UGC and
  • A person whose Phil. dissertation has been evaluated and the viva voce is pending may be admitted to the Ph.D. programme of the same University.
  • Candidates possessing a Degree considered equivalent to M.Phil. Degree of an Indian Institution, from a Foreign Educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions, shall be eligible for admission to Ph.D.

3. Eligibility criteria for admission to M.A. in Education/ M.A. in Sanskrit/ Master of Journalism & Mass Communication (MJMC):

Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognised University with minimum 50% marks or equivalent grade for unreserved category and 45% marks or equivalent grade for SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/Divyang candidates.

4. Eligibility criteria for admission to M.A. in Gandhian and Peace Studies:

Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognised University with minimum 50% marks or equivalent grade for unreserved category and 45% marks or equivalent grade for SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/Divyang candidates.

OR

Bachelor’s degree obtaining 45% marks in the subject of Gandhian and Peace Studies or 50% marks in aggregate.

OR

B.A. (Hons) in the subject of Gandhian and Peace Studies or Master’s Degree in any other subjects.

OR

BA pass obtaining at least 45% marks in Gandhian and Peace Studies, History, Political Science, Economics, Philosophy, Psychology, Public Administration, Geography, Sociology, Ancient Indian History – Culture Archaeology, Women Studies, Human Rights & Duties, Defence Studies, Social Work, Police Administration.

5. Eligibility criteria for admission to M.L.I.Sc.:

Bachelor’s Degree in Library and Information Science from a recognised University with minimum 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade for unreserved category and 45% marks or equivalent grade for SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/Divyang candidates.

6. Eligibility criteria for admission to B.L.I.Sc. : 

Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognised University with minimum 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade for unreserved category and 45% marks or equivalent grade for SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/Divyang candidates.

Applicants Who Are Not Eligible For Admission In  MGCUB

  • Any applicant who has been suspended, rusticated, debarred or expelled or removed from the rolls of any other University/Academic Institution by a competent authority of the concerned University/Academic Institution, is not eligible for admission to the University.
  • A person appearing in the Final Year of the Qualifying Examination may also apply and appear in the Test. However, the candidate will be required to produce the original marksheet/transcript of the qualifying examination at the time of admission.
    • Further, the candidates may be given provisional admission in a Programme of Study, if the results of the qualifying examinations are not declared till the last date of admission, provided: i. they produce a certificate from the competent authority (such as Controller of Examinations, Dean, Registrar etc.) to the effect that the result of the concerned qualifying examination has not yet been declared.
    • It is evident from the mark sheets(s) of the previous examination(s) relating to the course of qualifying degree that the candidate has secured at least stipulated minimum percentage of aggregate marks (for example 55%) in the previous examination(s) (except final examination whose result has not been declared till the time of admission) of the qualifying degree (this will not be necessary for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates).
    • The candidate gives an undertaking that she/he will submit the marksheet/transcript of the qualifying examination on or before specific date of the admission year and if she/he fails to submit the original mark-sheet/transcript on or before specific date of the admission year, then her/his provisional admission in the Programme of Study of the University shall automatically stand cancelled and the candidate cannot claim for refund of fees paid for provisional admission.
    • Further, if her/his aggregate percentage of marks in the qualifying examination is below the stipulated minimum percentage of aggregate marks, her/his provisional admission will also stand automatically cancelled and the candidate cannot claim for any refund of fees from the University.

Application Form

The application for MGCUB Entrance Exam will be fille din Online Mode Only. The online Application form is being filled online on the official website of MGCUB. The application form will be filled from 12th June 2019 till 03rd July 2019. Candidates are requested to fill the form before the last date to avoid server rush. Candidates are advised to check the eligibility criteria carefully before applying for the programme in MGCUB 2019.

Some Important Points:

  • All admissions shall be based on the applications received THROUGH ONLINE MODE ONLY in response to the admission notification.
  • Last Date and Procedure for applying through Online Mode:
    • Please read eligibility criteria and other requirements before submitting the application form; and
    • An eligible candidate can submit his/her application through ONLINE MODE by clicking on the prescribed link available on the University Website (www.mgcub.ac.in) on or before 3rd July 2019 (Wednesday) by 23:59:59 hrs.
    • The candidates who are submitting their application online are advised to save the copy of their online application and proof of transaction of application fee made online, for future reference.

Application fee

The application fee for admission to various Programmes of Study for different categories of applicants shall be as under:

❖ General/OBC/EWS – Rs.800/-

❖ SC/ST – Rs.350/-

❖ International Applicant – Rs.3,500/-

❖ PwD applicants are exempted from paying application fee.

Submission of application for different Programmes of Study: A candidate who desires to apply for more than One Programmes of Study are required to pay separate prescribed fee.

Admit Card for MGCUB Entrance Exam 2019

MGCUB will release the admit card for MGCUB 2019 Entrance exam on 7th July 2019 (Sunday). The admit card will be released online on the official website of MGCUB. Candidates can download MGCUB admit Card using Application Number and Date of Birth or Password. Admit Card is a must for Entry in Examination Hall. No candidates without admit card will be allowed to appear in MGCUB Entrance Exam. Admit Card will be released to only those Candidates who have paid the fee. The candidates can download the Admit Card/Hall Ticket from the University Website from 7th July 2019 (Sunday) onwards. Intimation  regarding  Entrance  Test,  Entrance  Examination  Centres,  List  of  Candidates  finally Selected/Waitlisted shall be displayed only on the:

  • University Website (www.mgcub.ac.in)
  • Notice Board of the University
  • Notice Board of the concerned School/Department/Centre
  • No intimation shall be sent to the candidates by post or courier or email.
