IIT JAM 2024 Eligibility Criteria

IIT JAM 2024 – Exam Pattern
The JAM 2024 Examination for all seven Test Papers will be conducted as a Computer Based Test (CBT) format. The duration of the examination will be uniformly set at 3 hours for all Test Papers, and the medium of instruction for all of them will be exclusively English. The examination paper consists of a total of 60 questions, collectively worth 100 marks. The entire paper is divided into three sections: A, B, and C, all of which are mandatory. Each section comprises questions of various types, as described below:
- Section A: This section includes a total of 30 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). Among these, 10 questions carry one mark each, and 20 questions are valued at two marks each. Each MCQ presents four choices, with only one being the correct answer. Candidates can select their answers by clicking on the choice.
- Section B: This section encompasses 10 Multiple Select Questions (MCQs), each worth two marks. These questions resemble MCQs, but the key distinction is that an MSQ may have one or more correct choices from the four options provided. Candidates receive full credit only if they correctly identify all the valid answer(s) without selecting any incorrect choices. Candidates indicate their answer(s) by clicking on the choice(s).
- Section C: This section comprises 20 Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions. Out of these, 10 questions are valued at one mark each, and the remaining 10 are worth two marks each. In Section B (MSQ), there is no provision for negative marking, nor is there partial marking. Section C (NAT) also does not involve negative marking.
